In 2026, Walmart credit card applications are handled through OnePay, with cards issued by Synchrony Bank. Applicants may be considered for the OnePay CashRewards Card or the Walmart Spend Card.
You can check whether you prequalify without affecting your credit score, but a completed application involves a hard credit inquiry. Neither approval nor a particular credit limit is guaranteed.
What Walmart Credit Cards Are Available in 2026?
The current OnePay credit card program includes two products.
Both are issued by Synchrony Bank, but they have different spending and rewards features.

OnePay CashRewards Card
The CashRewards Card is a Mastercard that can be used at Walmart and other merchants.
Its standard rewards include 5% cash back on eligible Walmart purchases with a linked Walmart+ membership, 3% at Walmart without Walmart+, and 1.5% on other qualifying purchases.
Rewards are earned as OnePay Points and are subject to program conditions.
OnePay Walmart Spend Card
The Walmart Spend Card is limited to purchases at Walmart stores and Walmart.com.
It has no annual fee but does not provide standard ongoing cash-back rewards.
Applicants cannot select this card directly. Synchrony first considers the CashRewards Card and may offer the Walmart Spend Card instead.
Can You Apply With Bad Credit or a 500 Credit Score?
You may check your potential eligibility even if your credit score is relatively low.
However, OnePay does not publish a universal minimum credit score that guarantees approval.
Under the commonly used FICO scoring framework, scores between 300 and 579 are classified as poor.
A score around 500 may indicate past payment problems, high balances, or other credit challenges.
Synchrony may consider income, existing obligations, credit history, and other underwriting information.
Two people with similar scores may receive different decisions.
Prequalification can help explore eligibility, but it does not establish that an applicant will be approved.
How to Apply for a Walmart Credit Card: Step by Step
OnePay allows consumers to begin the application process through Walmart.com, the Walmart app, or select Walmart stores.
Step 1: Visit the Official Application Channel
Start through Walmart's official OnePay credit card page or another verified Walmart application channel.
Avoid unfamiliar websites promising special approval or exclusive credit limits.
Step 2: Check Prequalification
OnePay provides a preliminary eligibility check using a soft credit inquiry.
This stage does not affect your credit score.
Review any information presented, but remember that prequalification is not final approval.
Step 3: Enter Your Personal Information
According to OnePay, applicants may need to provide:
Full legal name.
Mailing address.
Phone number and email.
Date of birth.
Social Security number or ITIN.
Income information.
Additional information may be requested for verification.
Step 4: Review the Card Disclosures
Before proceeding, review the interest rate, fees, repayment terms, and applicable rewards conditions.
Make sure you understand that a formal application can result in a hard inquiry.
Step 5: Submit the Formal Application
After you accept the relevant disclosures and submit your application, Synchrony evaluates your eligibility.
You may be approved for the CashRewards Card, offered the Walmart Spend Card, or declined.
Step 6: Review the Decision
If approved, check your credit limit, applicable APR, payment due date, and card features before making purchases.
If declined, review the information provided by Synchrony before considering another application.
